top gun themed bachelorette party

Have you seen the movie Top Gun?

I am talking about the original one back in 1986. I didn’t see it around that time, because I was 8 yrs old. But I’ve heard so many good things about it. My parents loved it. We even had a cassette tape of the full movie soundtrack, so “Take my breath Away” was like a staple sound in our home every weekend. My mom would be blasting it on her cassette player while cleaning. Can you actually blast something off of a cassette player? LOL, I’m actually not sure. I don't know. Anyway, I was able to finally watch it on cable tv when I was in high school, and I must tell you, Tom Cruise in the 80’s? Whew! And from what I’ve seen online lately, I think that’s what people are feeling about Miles Teller now. And who can blame them? Come on.

I haven’t seen the new one though, the Top Gun: Maverick one. We might see it this weekend. I’m sure it’s as awesome as the original. At least that’s what I heard.

If you LOVE Top Gun, and Top Gun: Maverick, here are 5 things you need to do in order to have a Top Gun Themed Bachelorette party. Save some money for this because this time, WE ARE GOING ALL OUT! Kinda..

  1. First of all, we need to get you girls in navy aviation outfits. It’s all or nothing, right? Find a local costume rental shop, rent some aviator costumes, not pilot costumes,” Maverick” costumes. If you are doing this around Halloween, all the better, because I am pretty sure that with the success of Top Gun: Maverick, there will be PLENTY of aviator costumes. Kinda like that time when Heath Ledger played Joker, and everyone was Joker for Halloween the same year.

All the girls should be wearing Maverick costumes. It’ll look hot and cool at the same time, trust me.

Do you need aviator glasses? I think  not. ONLY the BRIDE is allowed to be Tom Cruise here. The bride can wear sunglasses!

  2. Rent a silver SUV, this is to copy the Silver Porsche that Maverick had in Top Gun. You can’t really expect to fit everyone in a Porsche right? I don’t even know if they’ll rent out a Porsche. But a nice silver SUV will do. Don't rent a Limousine.

  3. Find a local home style restaurant, preferably one with a piano bar, so that it’ll actually mimic the place where Tom Cruise and his best friend, Goose went to, where Goose played the piano. I’m not expecting anybody to be playing piano, but you get what I mean. You girls can have an early dinner there. Or if you find local dive bar, that’ll be even better.

  4. This is the most important part of the theme, actually the 2nd most important, we’ll get to the first one later. Find a local aviation museum in your area and book a flight simulation. This is important because if cannot book this activity, a big part of the theme will be wasted. Flight simulations usually last about 20-30 minutes each. So hopefully they can do batches at a time, or else you’ll be there a long time. If you can’t book any flight simulation activity, just go for a Karaoke or open mic night bar , you can have your drinks there before heading home. I think it’ll be fun to just sing and let loose, like Goose and the rest of the gang.

  5. After the Flight Simulation activity, you can head over to another bar for some drinks, or you can go continue the party at home, or hotel, if you rented one, where you girls can all spend the night.

And of course, we’re saving the best for last. Hire a male stripper. Yes, I said it. I told you this’ll be all an out bachelorette party! And not just a male stripper, but a Maverick male stripper. You can request that, right? I haven’t really booked one myself so I don’t know how that works, but I’m pretty sure they are flexible with the roles they need to play, if need be. That’s the highlight of the night. LOL.

But if not all of you are comfortable with something like that, you can opt for other wholesome activities like Top gun board games or video games. Then I guess you can spend the rest of the night just talking, planning the wedding, gossiping, or just laughing at memories. Finish off the night by watching the 1986 Top Gun, if you are all still awake at this point.

So there you have it. 5 simple, albeit a little pricey, steps to have a Top Gun themed bachelorette. Don’t worry too much about keeping in theme, just remember to enjoy night, and have fun with the bride and the rest of the bridesmaids.
