bridgerton inspired bridal shower
Bridgerton was an instant hit when it dropped at Netflix about a year ago. I know I watched it based on the recommendation of my mom. Yes, my mom. I thought Ok, I’ll try this since my mom said it was really good. I was watching like any regular adult, up until episode 4 when every scene started to get steamy. I was thinking, “My mom watched these scenes, and wanted me to watch it?” LOLLL.
Anyway, I know she recommended it for the story, and rightfully so, because the story was good. I enjoyed watching it, not just for the story and steamy scenes, but for whole aesthetic of the show. I loved the costumes and everything else about the series.
If you are throwing your friend a bridal shower, (different from a Bachelorette party in the sense that for this one, you can invite all the female friends, even if they’re not part of the wedding party), Bridgerton is a theme you might want to consider, especially if the bride likes the show. If you have some budget, big or small, here are some things you can do:
Do a really nice invitation for all the bridesmaids, coming from Lady Whistledown (that’s you!)
Here is an example:
Dearest Readers,
As we all know, the wedding date of the betrothed, Lady _____ and Lord ______ is approaching. Rumors are abuzz that there will be a tea party and a candlelight feast to be held at, (address) on (day and time). I know I will be there, albeit anonymously, and I will be updating everyone else as to who are included in this secret event. I heard from the grapevine, that it will be an evening filled with nostalgia and fruitful gossip. I cannot wait to find out more.
Yours Truly,
Lady Whistledown

Look at hotels, or restaurants and book a private room. Ask if they do themed parties. You’ll be surprised how some places actually accommodate these types of requests. But you can also do this at home, EVEN IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD.
Also, if one of your friends have a second living room, you can move some of the furniture out of there, and put the dining room chairs and tables on there. Put in in the center, because that will be where the candlelight feast is going to happen.
Rent some silk or velvet table and chair covers to cover dining area with. Stick to pastel colors so that it’s light and airy.
If any of the bridesmaids have a big full length mirror, borrow it, lean it on the wall, and cover the border with gold removable tack paper, to make it look for vintage.
If you have a bar cart or any round side table, use it for the tea party. This is where you place the tea pot and the cups for some nostalgia and gossip time before dinner starts. Ask your friends if you can borrow their Royal Garden tea cup set or China, if they have any. If none of you own those, you can certainly find some at vintage stores. It might be a little bit expensive, but if you’re all springing for it, it can be a really, really nice bridal shower gift, especially if she’s into vintage household items. I know I will be happy to own a set of those beautiful tea cup set, and I’m not even a collector of such things.
Get a small table beside the cart and put some macaroons and other English tea pastries, like scones, and Danish and etc.
Rent costumes for everyone – doesn’t have to be the full costume with the hair. Just the dresses. Maybe rent a wig just for the bride since she’s the focus here. As for the gloves, you can just buy those at any dollar store for cheap, as well as the fake tiaras for everyone. If you don’t want to spend money, just wear something long and formal and with a solid color. That’ll do.
Buy some paper chandeliers online. I found one on Amazon for like $15. There are nicer ones at Etsy, I’m sure you can find some there, but they might be a little bit more expensive that the noes in Amazon. You can hang them around the venue where you’re having the bridal shower, just to give more illusion of grandeur.
DO a candlelight dinner, with a beautiful table set up, complete with vintage candelabras or candle holders. You can buy those at vintage stores or rent them at any event rentals.
SOME GAMES YOU CAN PLAY
Pin the penis on the man, (I know it seems so out of place for a theme like this, but this is a bridal shower afterall) but replace the face, with the face of the Duke or even the fiance’s face.
Pass the message - 2 groups if you can, if there’s enough people. The bride will write a message at the back of the first person, and then the first person will write it on the back of the next person and so forth. Whoever finished first, and gets the message correctly wins.
Any type of Bridgerton trivia game - if everyone was able to watch it.
Buy a naughty boardgame or card game. It will surely be a hit.
Bridal Shower Favor
I think a good bridal shower favor for the guests would either be a vintage tea cup or a Crystal glass. Nothing else. If you can’t afford this, then just don’t give out anything. You don’t have to buy new ones. You can find these at thrift stores. You will be amazed at how many Crystal glasses you’ll find at any thrift stores or any vintage stores.
