I have compiled a list of the places around Edmonton, Alberta, that I consider are really good venue options, not just for your wedding, but for any other occasion or event. These are the venues that I have been to, and checked out for my own event.
Rutherford House - Of course this is at the top of my list because this was my wedding venue. If you are looking for a small venue for an intimate wedding reception, or even just a wedding ceremony, this is the perfect place. There is split staircase that meets in the middle, and that was where we did our ceremony. we stood there with our pastor to say our vows, while the guest were all standing around the staircase. It was an amazing venue. The dinner can be done in the formal dining area, and it can be extended int o the library. For picture, you have more than enough places do it because the whole area outside the house is a big garden with lots of flowers.
Scona Pool - the whole place can be rented for a private event. it includes a big pool, a party room, and the whole area outside has a barbeque grill and some tables and chairs. It is a good venue for any party. Kids’ birthdays, bachelor/bachelorettes’, wedding showers, gender reveals, wedding receptions, etc.
The Carrot Community house and Coffee Shop - this is one of the art cafes that talked about in my wedding venues, where you get the effect of a big art gallery venue, for a fraction of the price. You are surrounded with art work from local artists, and the whole place is powered by volunteers. you should definitely check it out if you’re looking for a small venue for you event.
Whitemud Creek Community Centre - this is by far, the best Community hall I’ve seen in Edmonton and area. It doesn’t feel like a box. It’s such a rustic retreat with all wood beams, the stairs and everything around it. On the outside, you have a beautiful water fountain and there’s a big playground on the side for the kids to play in when they get bored.

Hallway Cafe- this is actually not a venue that you can rent for your event, but they can cater to your event. The reason I included them is because i used them for my wedding. they used to be called Kids in Hall Bistro. The good thing about them is they hire high risk and at risk youth, and supports them through employment and education. you are not only getting amazing food, but you are also giving back to the community by hiring them as caterers.
Sugar Swing Community of Jazz - this is one of the best dance studios I’ve seen in Edmonton that you can rent for weddings or any other event. the place is like a loft, beautifully done. the ceiling is painted black and with the lights hanging from there, the whole place is magical. it has 2 floors that you can rent, each floor can accommodate a certain number of guests, so depending on your guests, you can decide which area to rent,.
