WHAT SHOULD MY BRIDESMAIDS WEAR?

SHOULD MY BRIDESMAIDS WEAR THE SAME GOWNS?

There are so many options to choose from when deciding what your bridesmaids should wear. The most common of which is making them wear the same gowns. But that has changed over the years. Here are the options:

Matching gowns -Matches the uniformity of the groomsmen’s suits. The  drawback is that everyone has a different body type, (unless you’re all supermodels). A fit or a style may look good on one peson,  but looks awkward and unflattering to another. You want to stand out as the bride, but you also want to make sure that your friends are not uncomfortable during the wedding, which sometimes last the whole day. You don’t want them fidgeting every now and then. They may end up frustrated the whole day instead of happy to be there with you. If you choose to have uniform gowns for the bridesmaids, make them decide amongst themselves which style everyone prefers. Leave it to them.

Same colors and fabric, different styles - I’ve been seeing a lot of this lately and I think it’s the best option on making everybody happy. Your bridesmaid can choose the style that fits their body,  and makes them feel pretty.

Different shades -  I’ve seen bridesmaids dresses that have the umbra effect. It goes from really dark blue to light blue. It’s beautiful. Some opt to have 2 color motifs so half the bridesmaids are wearing one color, and the other half is wearing the other.

Style and fabric is different, but same color hues - this is one of my favorites. If I have to get married again, to the same person of course, unless Tom Hardy forces me to marry him, I would choose this for my bridesmaids. Why? Simply because it gives them the opportunity to really find something that fits their body, and matches personality. And not only that, they have the option of getting a dress that they can wear again to another event. When did you ever get to wear your bridesmaid dress? Personally I have never seen them again, it’s in Narnia inside my closet. The key is to give your ladies a color pallet they can work from, so that they know right away if their dress color compliments the colors of the rest of the bridesmaids.

If you are going to go with matching gowns, make sure you let your bridesmaids decide the style they all like, amongst themselves. Yes, you can request a certain style, and I’m sure your bridesmaids will give in because you’re the bride, but think about this: Are they really happy with your choice, or are they just saying yes because they couldn’t say no to the bride? Like I said, it’s your wedding, it’s your choice, BUT I believe that a wedding should be a fun and memorable event for everyone. Especially your bestfriends, yourself and the groom.
