6 types of wedding chairs
Years ago, the only option people had for chairs at any event are the ones they provide at the hotel or wherever the venue was. It’s usually just the typical metal chair with vinyl covered seating. Luckily, that has changed. There are way more options now to choose from.
Here are some of of types of chair you can rent:
Folding chairs - definitely one of the cheaper options out there. Comes in metal or wood. These folding chairs are popular for outdoor weddings because they are lightweight, and foldable so it is very easy to set up and take down. You can rent chair covers if they don’t match the aesthetic that you want for your wedding.
Folding chairs
Stackable banquet chairs - these are the ones I was talking about earlier, they are metal with either vinyl or blue fabric seats. These are your basic hotel chairs that don’t add any beauty to the venue. They’re almost in the same price point as the folding chairs, but you don’t have to rent these, because they usually come with the rental, whether it’s a community hall, hotel, or any other venue. This is a very basic chair, and it’s a little bit heavier than the folding chairs.
Wooden cross back chairs - these are slightly on the expensive side, but they are beautiful as is, so no need to cover with anything. These type of chairs are perfect for rustic-themed wedding, or vineyard style outdoor receptions. They are elegant and romantic. I’d say they’re perfect for any outdoor wedding ceremony and reception.
Cross back chairs
King louis chairs - these are the most expensive type, and normally just for the bride and groom to sit in, especially if they are going to be at the end of a long table or if they seated separately from the guests, unless you have the budget to rent this type for every guests. Looks very luxurious; fit for a King and Queen.
Chiavari/Tiffany chairs - this is the most popular one. The one I’ve been seen in weddings and any other event for the past 10 years. It is slightly more expensive than the other types, but less than the price of a King Louis chair. What makes it really popular is it’s simple, yet clean and elegant look. There is really no need to add anything else to it as it stands on it’s own. Other people still put a bow or some kind of fabric on it, but to be honest, I’d rather you not put anything on it. because it’s construction and design is beautiful. It fits an outdoor or indoor venue, and any other theme or motif.
Tiffany chairs
Resin chair - this chair is made of Resin which is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE). They can be made to look like any of the types of chairs above. The price depends on the style of the resin chair.
White resin chairs
Most of these chairs require no covers, except for the stackable banquet ones, you really need to cover that one. For the Tiffany chairs, why cover something that you paid so much for?
If you need the chair covered, there are different types of cover you can also rent:
Satin - this is most expensive type obviously, but the good thing with this one is you won’t need a ribbon. It fits a formal or black tie wedding.
Polyester/Cotton - this is the most basic type of cover you can rent. Some people opt to put ribbon around it. I honestly don’t care for the ribbon, just put a cover and leave it at that. Make it clean looking. Sometimes too much ribbon is just tacky.
Spandex - these are the ones that look cleaner and more polished than the other types because it fits exactly as the chair nothing bulky, no extra fabric on the floor.
