bachelorette ideas
I know the first thing that comes to mind is hiring strippers. Or least in my mind. LOL. Seriously, there are so many ways to throw a bachelorette party. If you are a bridesmaid, or the maid or matron of honor, it is your responsibility to throw the party.
Why do we need a bachelorette party?
According to Wikipedia: “A bachelorette party (United States and Canada) or hen night (UK, Ireland, and Australia) is a party held for a woman (the bride or bride-to-be) who will soon be married.
The practice of giving a party to honor the bride-to-be goes back for centuries. However, certain American bachelorette party customs involving licentiousness among some social groups may have begun during the sexual revolution of the 1960s. It was uncommon until at least the mid-1980s, and the first book on planning bachelorette parties was published only in 1998. Since the 1980s, many parties in honor of the bride-to-be that were labeled as bachelorette parties often involved displays of sexual freedom philosophy, such as trading intimate secrets, getting drunk, and watching male strippers. Parties that honored the bride-to-be without them avoided that label. Now, however, the term is used for a wide variety of parties.
So I guess that’s where the male strippers came into play. However, it depends on what you think the bride really prefers, hiring strippers are not the only option around there.
Throwing a bachelorette party can be expensive, depending on the type you are going to do. All the expenses should be shared amongst the bridesmaids. This is one of the added expense of being a bridesmaid, but you’re doing it for your friend, so it’s not a big deal right? We’ll talk about bridesmaids expenses in another post.
Here are some typical bachelorette parties you can do:
Out of town celebration – Some people opt travel out of town to spend the weekend with girlfriends. Most popular destination is Las Vegas, because you can do everything there. There’s booze, shows, concerts. casino. There’s nothing else you need to plan, you just have to go, enjoy and see where things take you. Others prefer a relaxing retreat at a spa somewhere, maybe a group massage for everyone. I’ve been to a bachelorette party for one of my best friends, and she was really into yoga. But we were not a group of rich women, we couldn’t afford a luxurious yoga retreat, so we opted for a private yoga session in one of the bridesmaids house. Then we had dinner and drinks afterwards. It was so much fun, because we knew that that was what the bride was into.

Group Cooking Lessons - My friend got married about 5 years ago, and she’s the type of person who isn’t into parties and anything wild. She requested something wholesome and fun .So we, the bridesmaids, arranged for a group cooking lesson for all of us (there were 6 Bridesmaids + the bride). We found the cooking lesson in the ad of one of the popular restaurants around our area. It was a cooking lesson, where each of us are able to make our own 3 course dinner, and then eat it after. We had so much fun, because none of us can really cook, I mean we can cook some simple food, but not those restaurant quality dishes, so we were laughed all the way because of how our food turned out. It tasted really awesome, but the presentation is lacking. We did that and then had a few drink in a bar after. It was a nice and clean fun.
Nude Paint night - In my area, there are mature Drink and Draw events, for men and women over 18. You drink while drawing nude models. Everything is included in the price per person. That includes all the art supplies and the drinks. I assure you this will be a memorable experience for all of you, plus you have a remembrance,: your nude painting of the model. It was a little bit of naughty but not too much. I mean there’s still nudity without the actual stripper.
Comedy club night - Find a really good Rated 18 comedy club and have a laughter filled evening with the girls. Have some drinks and maybe go to an open mic night right after. Or better, yet, do some Karaoke with the girls.
Group Pottery Class - book a private pottery class for the bridesmaids and the bride. It’s wholesome way to spend the evening, and you’ll be able to create and keep something from that night, that everyone can talk about for years to come. There are so many private classes now that you can book for your bachelorette.
Rent an Airbnb or hotel room - You can rent an Airbnb for one night, somewhere around the city. There’s so many Airbnb’s with good amenities like a pool or hot tub. You girls can have a fun, relaxing evening in the hot tub. Maybe rent a few movies, have dinner delivered, play some board games. And maybe hire a stripper? If the Airbnb allows those kids of small parties. You have to ask permission of course.
Book a funny sex education tutor - the one that teaches you how to do perfect blow job. Yes, they exist. LOL. I’ve been to a bachelorette party, and instead of a male stripper, they hired one of those tutors. They are supposedly the “experts” on any topic of sex. Sexual moves, that is. We laughed the whole night, BUT we learned so much stuff, especially regarding erogenous zones.
Those are some on the stuff you can do if you are doing a bachelorette party. However, some people just prefer throwing a bridal shower instead. I think the difference is that bridal shower is mostly focused on gift-giving. I will talk about bridal showers in another blog post. Watch out for it.
